Order in the House

God is the beginning and the end. If our life is in His hands, why do we worry? To keep order in the house of God, let us examine the following principles:
Agreement: Covenant Relationship
2 Samuel 23:1, 5 (NKJV): "Although my house is not so with God, yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire; will He not make it increase?"
Although David's house faced conflicts and conspiracies, God made an everlasting covenant with him to govern Israel.
Hebrews 8:8, 10 (NKJV): "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel... I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
Jesus established a new covenant through His blood so we may come to the Father. God desires to bring order into our lives. Are we being faithful to this covenant relationship?
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV): "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Assembly: Worship of God
The purpose of our gathering is to worship Almighty God, grow in fellowship, and advance the gospel. We must remember three key principles: Relationship, Ownership, and Stewardship.
Worship means prostrating before God in reverence and humility.
1 Chronicles 6:31–32 (NKJV): "David appointed men over the service of song in the house of the Lord... They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting."
2 Chronicles 8:14 (NKJV): "According to the order of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, the Levites for their duties... and the gatekeepers at each gate."
As the church, we are part of the heavenly assembly.
Hebrews 12:22–24 (NKJV): "You have come to Mount Zion... to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven."
Action: Personal Responsibility
Psalm 37:23–24 (NKJV): "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand."
Our plans may fail so we learn to submit to His purpose. We must die to self so His will prevails.
Psalm 50:23 (NKJV): "Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God."
Psalm 119:133 (KJV): "Order my steps in Thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me."
We must re-order our conduct and speech to be His instruments. Life seasons change, but God's grace sustains us.
Application: Appropriate Participation
1 Corinthians 11:34 (NKJV): "If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come."
1 Corinthians 14:40 (NKJV): "Let all things be done decently and in order."
Maintaining order in God’s house requires all of us to take ownership.
1 Corinthians 16:1 (NKJV): "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also."
Arrangement: Final Matters
2 Kings 20:1 (NKJV): "In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet said to him, 'Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.'"
God calls us to set our homes, lives, and church in order.
1 Peter 4:17 (NKJV): "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God."
Conclusion
May the Lord help us to honor Him and set things in order in His house and church. Let us agree with heaven, assemble in unity, take personal responsibility, apply what is needed to establish order, and prepare for Christ’s return.
